A Recap of 2018’s life goals.

As you saw in my previous blog post. When life pushes the piano out the window. The past year has turned all my plans inside out and upside down but in keeping with tradition lets see how I did.

Each year I make a list of goals for the approaching year. I prefer this over resolutions. I make one for each year of my life thus far. These can be small things or very big things. The idea is to keep it fun, realistic, and attainable. I have done this every year since I was 24. Before I begin my new list I look back on the past year to see how things played out. I see it as a great way to take stock of the past year. What worked. What didn’t and plan to improve over the next year!

  1. Run the OKC Marathon again – FAIL
  2. Run 3 full marathons or 50K’s – FAIL
  3. Run PHH 50k – FAIL at PHH I was just 8 weeks post surgery.
  4. Earn my double agent status at last – FAIL
  5. do a personal photography project each month (not just client work, I love my clients and love the work but personal projects allow me to try new things!) – FAIL
  6. make one smart addition to my studio equipment – Success!!!
  7. volunteer at at least 2 trail races. (Love the Trail & Ultra Family!) – Success!
  8. see more of Oklahoma! – FAIL
  9. Get back into the habit of going to the gym – FAIL
  10. Upgrade my desktop – FAIL
  11. keep my vanity clean-er (it tends to be my catch all) -its clean-er but needs improvement.
  12. train Greta to trail run with Ruby and I – FAIL
  13. keep my office clean and organized – FAIL
  14. continue thinning out what I have acquired – less is more – several loads to goodwill. More to go.
  15. get the kayaks to the river a minimum of 6 times this year! – made it once. Surgery put a kink in this too.
  16. attend Professional Photographers of Oklahoma Fall Convention – Success!! I was 2 weeks post surgery but I was there!
  17. Write a blog about how life happened in 2017. It’s going to be a rough one folks and so far I have not been able to tackle it. – Marginal Success
  18. Replumb and open the pool – FAIL
  19. try 5 new to me wines – Success
  20. try 5 new to me beers – Success
  21. Get back into the habit of cooking. Cook at least 3 recipes from Mrs Piccilo’s cookbook. – FAIL
  22. Captain an area at Tulsa Oktoberfest again this year – Success
  23. Get a jump on holiday decorating. Both Fall and Christmas. – DID BOTH!!!!!!
  24. Get a new family portrait with Greta in it! – FAIL
  25. Find that elusive perfect pair of tall boots for standing long periods of time. – FAIL
  26. Take a weekend to get away with David. Does not have to be big or extravagant but something not photo conference related. – FAIL
  27. Remove particle board furniture from my life! – Sent a few more items out of the house!
  28. Run 800 miles by the end of the year – I realize this is a fairly small number and hopefully I will double that by the end of the year. I realize I may be injured and not able to accomplish this but I am going to try. – FAIL
  29. Get new trail shoes. – FAIL
  30. Run a Marathon in a different state. – FAIL
  31. Eat 3 vegetarian meals a week. – FAIL
  32. Put together some kind of “style book” for the buisiness – FAIL
  33. Get back in the habit of working in my office. – Better
  34. Make an effort to do some more get togethers with friends – maybe quarterly. Life should not be all meetings. – Did Christmas – need to do more.
  35. Find a reason to laugh daily. – Every day. My boyfriend makes sure of it.
  36. Seriously research a new vehicle (new to me that is). – Marginal success
  37. Declare for my CPP and study!!! – FAIL
